Firming Body Lotions

General Recipe:

  1. Water (50-65%): The primary solvent in which other ingredients are dissolved.

  2. Emollients/Oils (10-20%): For example, jojoba oil or sweet almond oil which help soften and smooth the skin.

  3. Emulsifiers (3-8%): Ingredients that help combine the oil and water phases. Examples include cetearyl alcohol, polysorbate 80, or lecithin.

  4. Humectants (2-10%): These are ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid or propylene glycol which help attract and retain moisture in the skin.

  5. Firming Agents (1-5%): These could include peptides (like palmitoyl tripeptide-5), caffeine, or botanical extracts known for their skin-firming properties.

  6. Thickeners/Viscosity Modifiers (0.5-2%): These help improve the consistency and feel of the lotion. Examples could include carbomer or xanthan gum.

  7. Preservatives (0.5-1.5%): Ingredients like phenoxyethanol or potassium sorbate that help keep the product safe from microbial growth.

  8. Active Ingredients (1-5%): Other beneficial ingredients supporting skin health, such as vitamins or antioxidants.

  9. Fragrance/Essential Oils (0.1-1%): Optional, for adding a pleasing scent to your lotion.

These are designed to improve skin firmness and often include ingredients like caffeine and peptides.
