Moisturizing Shampoo

Moisturizing Shampoo

General Recipe:

  1. Primary Surfactants (10-15%): Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are commonly used, but milder alternatives such as Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate or Cocamidopropyl Betaine might be preferable for a moisturizing shampoo.

  2. Secondary Surfactants (2-7%): These enhance the lather and feel of the shampoo. Cocamidopropyl Betaine is commonly used.

  3. Moisturizing Agents (1-5%): These can include natural oils (like Argan oil or Jojoba oil), panthenol, glycerin, or other humectants.

  4. Conditioning Agents (1-5%): These are ingredients that provide extra moisture and manageability to the hair, such as Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride or cationic surfactants like Behentrimonium Methosulfate.

  5. Thickening Agents (0.5-2%): Ingredients such as Sodium Chloride or Xanthan Gum can be used to adjust the viscosity of the shampoo.

  6. Preservatives (0.5-2%): Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, or other suitable preservatives to prevent microbial growth in the product.

  7. pH Adjusters (q.s.): Citric Acid or other suitable agents to adjust the pH, typically aiming for a pH around 5-6.

  8. Water (to 100%): The remaining portion of the shampoo is typically water.

This is a general guideline, and additional ingredients such as fragrance, color, plant extracts, or proteins might be added to enhance the product's appeal and benefits. These shampoos are designed to infuse hair with moisture. They're often recommended for dry or frizzy hair.
