Deep Conditioner or Hair Mask

General Recipe:

1. Cationic Surfactants (5-10%): Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetrimonium Chloride, or Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine. These ingredients act as conditioning and detangling agents.

2. Emollients (3-10%): Oils such as coconut oil, argan oil, avocado oil, or shea butter can be used. They provide intense hydration and smoothness to the hair.

3. Humectants (5-10%): Glycerin, Panthenol, or Sodium PCA help attract and retain moisture in the hair.

4. Protein (0.5-5%): Hydrolyzed wheat protein, silk protein, or keratin can help strengthen the hair and improve its texture.

5. Preservatives (0.5-1%): Examples are Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, or Potassium Sorbate. They ensure the product is free from harmful microbial growth.

6. Thickeners (0.2-1%): Xanthan Gum or Hydroxyethylcellulose can be used to increase the viscosity of the conditioner.

7. pH Adjusters (0.1-0.5%): Citric Acid or Lactic Acid can be used to adjust the pH of the conditioner to be more acidic, which is beneficial for closing the hair cuticle.

8. Fragrance/ Essential Oils (0.2-1%): These can be added according to the desired smell and additional beneficial properties they may have for the scalp and hair.

9. Deionized Water (to 100%): The remaining percentage is typically water to make up the rest of the product.
