Volumizing Conditioner

Volumizing Conditioner

General Recipe:

  1. Cationic Surfactants or Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (2-6%): Ingredients like Behentrimonium Methosulfate or Cetrimonium Chloride provide conditioning properties and detangling, but are used in lower amounts than in a moisturizing conditioner to avoid weighing hair down.

  2. Volumizing Agents (1-5%): Ingredients like Panthenol or Hydrolyzed Rice Protein can help to coat the hair strand and increase its diameter, creating a feeling of more voluminous hair.

  3. Lightweight Oils (1-4%): Oils such as Argan Oil, Grapeseed Oil, or Jojoba Oil can provide light conditioning and shine without causing heaviness.

  4. Emulsifiers (1-3%): Emulsifying agents like Polysorbate 60 or Lecithin help to combine the oil and water phases.

  5. Preservatives (0.5-1%): Ingredients like Phenoxyethanol, Potassium sorbate, or Sodium benzoate ensure that the product is free from harmful microbial growth.

  6. Thickening Agents (0.2-1%): Ingredients such as Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum, or Hydroxyethylcellulose are used to adjust the viscosity of the product.

  7. pH Adjusters (0.1-0.5%): Citric acid or Lactic acid can be used to adjust the pH of the conditioner. The ideal pH of a hair conditioner is typically around 4-5.

  8. Fragrance (0.2-1%): Essential oils or fragrance oils can be added according to the desired smell.

  9. Deionized Water (to 100%): The remaining percentage is typically water to make up the rest of the product.

This type of conditioner is formulated to provide lift and body to thin or fine hair, usually without weighing the hair down.
